Lydia began writing
songs with children in 1979 in her capacity as a music teacher in New
York City. Several songs on her first album came directly from later arts-in-education
programs. With a variety of programs and performance skills to draw from, Lydia is a natural at leading workshops. Working with students from kindergarten to high school, Lydia has been combining the joy of making music with the discipline of learning to create delightful educational songs. The children have fun learning the craft of songwriting and gain a greater understanding of the subject in the process. Workshops followed by a performance of their own songs provides a wonderful experience and is a great source of pride for the students. Lydia works with a multitude of themes or leaves the topic open for creating songs spontaneously. The songs can be written for a school play, a specific school curriculum, Parents As Reading Partners' projects or just for fun. Working with your faculty, Lydia can design workshops suited to your needs.
